PROGRAMME OF COOPERATION IN SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION BETWEEN FINLAND AND MOZAMBIQUE (STIFIMO)

STIFIMO focuses on capacity building in different levels and various areas of science, technology and innovation. The aim of the program is to develop working, sustaining and constantly improving innovation system. One crucial cornerstone of STIFIMO is the enhancement of Mozambique’s capacity to better manage its own and donor resources.

STIFIMO consists of three components:
1. Science, technology and innovation sector development
2. Science, technology and innovation services for small and medium sized enterprises
3. Science, technology and innovation system and institutional development.

Component one includes five projects: ICT, Water, Biotech, Etnobotany and Technology Transfer. Component two is divided into two projects: Development of financing mechanisms and SME services. STI system and institutional development component includes projects for Human Resources Development, and Institutional Framework.

The objectives of STIFIMO are in line with the policy objectives and guiding principles of the Finnish Government. Finnish development cooperation is defined in the Development Policy Programme 2012 of the Finnish Government. Its main objective is eradication of poverty in compliance with the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
